How about a gun for everybody?

Gun permits? We don't need no stinkin' permits! How about letting everybody have a gun. Everybody! But if they screw up with it and kill somebody, they get murdered, too! How about that? That's how the platform of Basil Marceaux, a Republican candidate for governor of Tennessee, leads off and it gets more bizarre from there.

What's great about this candidate video is how well both news anchors manage to keep a straight face as they introduce it and come out of it. Somehow they must have known ahead of time that this clip was going to go viral on YouTube, etc., and they were going to make sure that noboby, but nobody, was going to be able to say they didn't give every single candidate anything less than a fair shot. Kapow!

But, of course, what's really great about this video is how it confirms the greatness of our American democracy, right? Anybody with something to say can go find a video camera and say it — or in the case of Marceaux's YouTube channel, not say it.

And, hey, who knows? After Alvin Greene's surprse come-out-of-nowhere victory in South Carolina's Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate, Basil Marceaux might just surprise everybody. If so, lock and load, y'all!
